OnePillow in the Future:
Developing a pillow that meets OnePillow®’s supportive qualities while also being sustainable is very challenging. Many companies on the market make sustainability claims. Currently, we are researching an alternative to memory foam. However, some products that seem sustainable are not. For example, natural latex appears to have a higher environmental impact than memory foam, and materials like kapok lack the resilience needed to provide proper support.
Behind the scenes, OnePillow is working hard on developing a more sustainable option. For instance, cotton and bamboo will be replaced by Tencel, a material made from eucalyptus wood fibres. During production, 98% of the chemicals can be reused, much more than with our current bamboo fabric. This reduces waste and keeps our ecological footprint low. Additionally, all shipments via Budbee are 110% CO2 compensated.
