In a world where sustainability is increasingly important, OnePillow is committed to a greener future by making conscious choices to integrate sustainable practices into the production process. In this blog post, we take you on OnePillow’s sustainable journey, highlighting smart use of packaging for memory foam storage, space-saving vacuum packaging, the use of bamboo as a renewable material, and the ongoing quest for improvement.


OnePillow Today:

  1. Multi-purpose Packaging: OnePillow has devised a clever solution to reduce waste and add functionality to product packaging. The OnePillow box also serves as a storage box for the memory foam in the pillows. By making these packages reusable, less waste is produced compared to including a polyester bag, and the packaging’s lifespan is extended.

  2. Compact and Space-saving: OnePillow understands the importance of efficient transport and reducing CO2 emissions. That’s why the pillows are vacuum packed. This smart packaging method keeps the pillows compact and saves space during transport. This allows more pillows to be shipped in one delivery, reducing the need for extra transport space and the number of shipments.

  3. Natural Bamboo as a Sustainable Choice: OnePillow® has deliberately chosen bamboo as a sustainable alternative to traditional materials. Bamboo is a fast-growing plant that requires little water and is naturally resistant to bacteria, reducing the need for harmful chemicals. Moreover, bamboo is biodegradable and recyclable. By using bamboo as a circular material, OnePillow® contributes to preserving natural resources and reducing negative environmental impacts.

  4. Always Seeking Improvement: OnePillow® is open to continuous improvement and remains committed to strengthening its sustainability efforts. OnePillow® collaborates with experts and continues researching new materials and methods.

OnePillow in the Future:

Developing a pillow that meets OnePillow®’s supportive qualities while also being sustainable is very challenging. Many companies on the market make sustainability claims. Currently, we are researching an alternative to memory foam. However, some products that seem sustainable are not. For example, natural latex appears to have a higher environmental impact than memory foam, and materials like kapok lack the resilience needed to provide proper support.

Behind the scenes, OnePillow is working hard on developing a more sustainable option. For instance, cotton and bamboo will be replaced by Tencel, a material made from eucalyptus wood fibres. During production, 98% of the chemicals can be reused, much more than with our current bamboo fabric. This reduces waste and keeps our ecological footprint low. Additionally, all shipments via Budbee are 110% CO2 compensated.
